Two researchers form Milan, Matteo Salina and Fabio Giavazzi, exploited their knowledge in biotechnology and physics to develop a laboratory for analysis “portable” and low cost.
The meeting between the two souls of Proxentia happened in a physics laboratory in the University of Milan. Their prototype exploits latest technologies in terms of smartphones, and making an APP is the real product to aim to.
In a market dominated by developments centered on smartphones, the choice to remain a product “made in Italy” was studied and in the end it was crucial, as Matteo Salina explains: “the reason to build a startup here, in spite of all the related problems, is the agri-food tradition that lives in our Country”. The strength of Proxentia is explained by Fabio Giavazzi: “The 10% of food analysis is done via disposable strips, similar to those used in pregnancy tests. Each substance to be detected requires its specific strip. Our device can replace such strips and part of more complex tests run into laboratories”.
